Permanent Exhibition: Noboribetsu's Natural History, the Katakura Retainers and Ainu Culture

Displays range from old household tools to natural-history material such as fir trees carbonised by the eruption of the Kuttara volcano, records of the Katakura samurai family and their retainers who settled here from 1869, and Ainu cultural material. The building echoes Shiroishi Castle, the Katakura family's former seat, and is surrounded by cherry and maple trees. Fully renewed in April 2026.
