Children Who Grew Up with Manga– 40 Years of Manga in Europe

An exhibition tracing some 40 years of manga's reception in France, Belgium, Spain, Italy and Germany. As Japanese comics were translated and read across Europe, readers developed their own ways of seeing and enjoying them — a history told here through 'Manga', the term Europeans came to use for Japanese-style story comics. Alongside that history are around 100 reproduction artworks by some 30 European Manga artists who grew up reading it, together with doujinshi, interview films and magazines. Co-organized with the International Manga Research Center, Kyoto Seika University, as part of Kyoto International Manga Anime Fair 2026.
